Stolen Property Recovered with Citizen and Police Help

(Prescott Valley, AZ – October, 2003) A local business owner deserves a banner himself for his help in recovering a banner stolen from the construction site of Augie’s Place restaurant across from Harkin’s Theater. This hero, who prefers to remain anonymous, was coming out of Harkin’s Theater at one evening and saw a group of youth removing a large colorful banner from the fence surrounding Augie’s Place. "I knew that there was a restaurant going in there," he says. "Why would they be taking that sign down at night?" He jotted down the license plate number of the truck the youth were using. Thinking it might have been a prank pulled by friends of the restaurant owner, the man watched for the banner to be replaced. "I stopped by Augie’s a few times, until I got hold of him and asked him what he wanted to do. He wanted the banner back so I let the police know." The man says, "That kind of thing is expensive. I know being in business myself that you not only lose the money for the sign but you lose the potential business too."

Officer Pat Ruiz took the call. "The police tracked the license plate number and had my banner back to me in two days," says Augie Perry, restaurant owner. "I’ll take it as a compliment to my designer that the banner is so attractive, but those banners cost upwards of $100 to print." He also notes that the helpful attitude of the helpful businessman and the prompt action of the PV Police reflect the attitude that attracted him to place this restaurant in the heart of Prescott Valley. "These are the kind of people I want to serve."
